Psalm 68:6

God sets the lonely in families.

Kin-nect

What Is Kin-nect?

The Kin-nect program, works to locate and engage relatives, and other caring adults of children who have aged out or are in the foster care system. The goal is to connect each child with a network of support so they may benefit from lifelong connections typically lost by being removed from their biological family.  Cases are typically referred through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Kin-nect also works with families involved with DHHS, whose goal is to keep their children at home or to have their children return home. A support system is created to help ensure each child’s safety and other needs are met.

This process provides an opportunity for family members and supportive adults to partner with the state agency and take part in the decision-making process for the child. The goals are as follows: increased reunification rates, improved well-being, placement stability, transition out of the child welfare system, decreased re-entry rates, and a stronger sense of belonging.
