Christian Heritage believes foster care is a calling.
We would like to join you on this journey.
Step One: Complete Form
Please complete this online form and Christian Heritage will contact you. No matter what stage of the process you are at, we would love to speak with you. We will answer any questions you may have and send you a packet of information to look over.
Step Two: Home Visit
To continue the journey, we set up a time to visit with you in your home. We share with you in detail what is involved in becoming a foster parent and about the children we care for. We do a walk-through of your home to ensure it meets the State of Nebraska licensing standards.
If you are already a licensed foster parent and are interested in finding out more about the mission of Christian Heritage please call us at 402-421-5437 or please fill out the following form.
Step Three: Training
If a consensus is reached, the next step of the journey is to attend foster care training classes. Christian Heritage partners with local churches to hold trainings at their facilities. Depending on your area, trainings are normally one night a week for 9-10 weeks.
Foster care training is a very exciting experience as we prepare you for caring for abused and neglected children.
Many lasting relationships are formed during training, as people from different churches and denominations share a common passion to care for hurting children.
Step Four: Licensing
During foster care training classes, you will complete homework assignments and start the licensing process. A licensing specialist will partner with you to help guide you through completing all the necessary requirements.
Background checks will be performed and a home study will be completed. This is an extensive study of your life, which will give Christian Heritage more insight into your family and what type of placement options will work best for you.
Step Five: Support
Supporting foster parents and the children we serve is very important to us. We are very intentional about placing children in the right homes. Christian Heritage will visit with you to determine what will work best for the child and for your family.
Christian Heritage will assign a family specialist to you during foster care training. Christian Heritage specialists are very knowledgeable about the foster care system and are a support system for you and the children. Family specialists attend school meetings, court meetings, and team meetings. They call on you and the children at least twice a month to help guide and direct each child according to his or her case plan.. A specialist is on call 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.
