Five Kids Find Family

Five Kids Find Family

On a cold January night in 2015, siblings Charlie, Noah, Lily and Ember were removed from the only home they had ever known, and placed in the state’s protective custody.

They needed a safe place to sleep.

Who would stand in the gap for these kids?

The oldest sister, Charlie, has been protecting the little ones her entire life. The Christian Heritage team began to call foster families to find someone would stand in the gap for these kids.

Liz, a member of the CH Foster Care team, placed the children in their foster homes and began to walk with them through the next five years.

“All four children entered a home with complete strangers and I’m sure they were terrified. Because of our support and training, we were able to find the right families for these kids. Their foster parents worked to build attachment and bonding, and make them feel secure and safe in their homes.”  - Liz

An entire community surrounded the children to show they are worthy of love, a family, and a new beginning.

The siblings were adopted into three forever families, including baby Hazel (born while the siblings were in foster care).

Through each interaction with their foster families, Christian Heritage staff, volunteers, professionals, their adoptive and new “bonus” families – the children have experienced the power of Christ’s healing love.

And, even though they weren’t adopted together, the children have still been able to be a family. They’ve been there for each other’s adoptions and the three families stay connected and support one another.

“The children and families have this huge network of support around them. They were even present for each other’s adoption days. The kids went from not having family outside of themselves, to having more family than they can count!” - Liz
